Preparing for the unknown.

The UK Government has begun a social media campaign getting people, businesses and hamsters to prepare for Brexit.

Or, more accurately, the end of the transition agreement.

One of them stated business people, or international men of mystery and quality experts, might need visas to carry on doing their job in the EU.

Only, that depends on whether some kind of deal, agreement, can be cobbled together.

Do I need to apply for a single visa for the EU27, or 27 separate visas?

I tweeted that question, I received no reply.

Because there is no answer, no one knows. Least of all the Government which is still directionless, but drifting towards the cliff edge, with the ERG screaming that all will be fine.

There is nothing I ca do, as far as I can see, other than wait until January 1st 2021, I suppose, to find out what is required then, as for the time being, its one of them unknown unknowns.

All this so a Minister will be able to say that they spent another £100 million warning people, so it is their fault they did not prepare for the unknown.

Perfect.

And now, a few lines on immigration.

1. It is not illegal to be a migrant.

2. Asylum can be appealed for in any country.

3. You cannot appeal for asylum until you have arrived in the country.

4. There is no queue jumping by people how come over in boats.

5. There is no way for those in France to claim asylum before they arrive, and the only way to arrive is via boats.

6. There are UK and international law and conventions on immigration and refugees.

7. UK law is only applicable in the UK. It stops 12 miles out.

8. The UK cannot force another country to accept migrants, even if that is where they started their journey to UK.

9. The Current agreement with France, the Dublin Accord, expires on December 31st 2020. Without extending that, or signing up to a new agreement, no migrants could be returned.
