On top of everything else

There is now going to be a fuel shortage in the UK.

Or Britain.

BP and Shell have started to shut some fuel stations due to driver shortages. There is enough fuel in the country, but no way of getting the fuel everywhere it needs to be.

But in mitigation, a Government spokesperson said there was no need to panic buy fuel, or anything else.

I'm sure that'll alay people's fears about running out of gas, so I'm sure there'll be no long lines waiting for fuel.

The Government is going to help fertilizer companies keep going, as they produce corbon dioxide, and the meat processing industry needs CO2, if this isn't sorted there'll be shortages of meat too.

Two smaller energy companies folded yesterday, so 1.5 million customers are being transferred to another supplier, but no news if their old tariffs will be honoured.

The Express has begun a campaign to have pensioners a winter fuel allowance to make up for the expected increase in energy costs. That pensions are surging ahead of inflation, and meanwhile poor, low paid workers, single parents are losing their £20 uplift in family credit this week, and so will have their remainder spending moeny squeezed by higher energy costs, meaning many will have the choice of heating or eating.

Is it just my country that's so fucked up with a Government in such denial over the crisis coming over the winter?
