Sunday 31st October 2021

All Hallows Eve.

Well, after the excitement of Saturday, Sunday was to be altogether more sedate.

We had an extra hour in bed thanks to the clocks going back, but was awake as dawn crept round the edges of the curtains. Cleo at my feet said "meow", asking about breakfast. Breakfast means four hungry demanding cats, so I feed one at a time.

It wasn't yet raining, but wouldn't be soon enough.

Jools went swimming, and I did chores, put the brid seed out. No sooner back in when the rain started, and the wind soon picked up too.

Just as forecasted.

Jool came back after 20 lengths and a session in the sauna. We had breakfast of croissants and more coffee.

And then for the exciting part of the day: a tip run. In driving rain.

You have to book these now, so not to lose our slot, we go, having loaded up the car. We recycled cooking oil, put in a load of paper and some garden stuff.

Three hundred and four Then to the pet food shop for bird food; seeds, peanuts and fat balls.

It was still pouring with rain, so I scampered to ASDA to get ingredients for beef Wellington, as there was too much steak for lunch.

That all done, we go home and I start the beef Wellington prep, searing the steak and cooking chopped mushrooms, then simmering them in some sloe port.

I combine those with some Italian ham, wrap tightly in cling film and will leave for 24 hours to mature.

Or something.

Then it was time to prepare the steak and trimmings for lunch, all done by half one so I could be done before the footy at two, when Norwich played host to Leeds.

We had rump steak, corn, garlic mushrooms and fried potatoes. And fizz.

It was very good, which is more than can be said of the footy, with Norwich losing again, 2-1.

I have no words.

THere was another game, Villa v West Ham, which ended 1-4, and was very watchable. Norwich are worse than both.

Needless to say.

And that was that, half six, time for cheese and crackers for supper, and that was that.

The evening faded and soon it was nine, and time for bed.

Somehow.
