Sunday 7th November 2021

I had plans for the day.

At least plans for the morning.

We were going to go to Stodmarsh and walk along the muddy tracks looking for wildlife.

And then, during the night, Cleo placed ehrself on the bed meaning I could not get comforatable. At some point she got off, but I lost hours and hours of sleep, which explains how it came to pass I woke up at five past eight, which is very nearly the afternoon.

Three hundred and eleven Jools had also gone back to sleep after feeding the cats at dawn, and she only got up at quarter to eight, putting the heating on, which probably woke me in the end.

Time Ball Tower So, two less hours to do stuff, and I had to be back home at half eleven to put the beef n the oven if the time of half one was to be met for lunch when Jen came round.

A walk in Deal We had coffee.

Breakfast. And another coffee.

Then headed to Deal for a walk. Not much planned there, jsut stretch our legs and maybe walk 45 minutes out and then back. What we didn't count on was some kind of park run on and all parking was apparently taken in the town. I did spot one near to the fishing boats on the beach, went round the roundabout, doubled back and nabbed that parking space.

A walk in Deal And it was free to park on Sundays.

Which was nice.

I five minute walk along I saw that a shop owned by a friend was just opening, so we go over to chat. His partner, in both senses, has had a tough time. His Mother fell ill and he (his partner) paid two grand for a flight to Pakistan to be beside his Mother as COVID took her, not after the family spent twenty thousand pounds on a private hospital bed, even then it didn't save her. They both have had COVID and then the hit their business took as a result of the pandemic. Just glad he's OK and the shop is back open.

A walk in Deal From there we walked to the pier, and then along and round the cafe at the far end, taking time to sit down and people watch.

A walk in Deal Its about the only thing that's free.

Back home and straight onto preparing the beef, season it and flour the fat so it goes crispy, and in it went into a hot oven for 15 minutes before turning it down.

A walk in Deal Potatoes were boiled, vegetables peeled and chopped, and the steamer was filled with water and checked several times!

A walk in Deal Jen arrived at one, and lunch was all cooked to perfection by quarter past.

I dish up three plates and Jools pours the pink fizz.

A walk in Deal Cheers.

We eat up, then Jen and Jools tidy up before we sit down for cards before the late afternoon match on the tellybox.

A walk in Deal Jools won both games of Meld, so Jen left poorer, but only slightly, so I could sit down to watch West Ham beat that Liverpool 3-2.

A walk in Deal Quite the footballing weekend.

And by then it was half six, and somehow the weekend had slipped by, Jools cooked her lunch for work on Monday, and I wrote another blog, and that was that.

A walk in Deal Pooped, even though I did very little.

So it goes.
