A chink of light?

Johnson met the Irish leader today, and they spoke for about three hours.

Afterwards there was talk of "pathway to a deal".

Which is nice.

Time is tight. I mean we're seven months after the actual ending of the original A50 period, but let's not get too miserable.

But let's say, for a minute, they have the basis for something. What then?

Well, Johnson would have to sell it to Parliament and the DUP. It would have to pass a MV and then all the primary and secondary legislation would have to be passed.

That will not happen by the 31st October.

And then there is the EU.

Ireland might say its OK, which I doubt, because anything in Brexit falls apart once you begin to look at details.

But then all of the EU27 would have to agree to the "deal" and an extension. Then the EU Parliament would have to agree too.

What we have learned through Brexit is that if one side is happy, then the other side won't be.

And this is the last Brexit post for two weeks or so.

How bad could things be upon my return?
