Lies and bad faith

Yesterday, Tuesday, Number 10 (Cummings) released a statement saying that the EU wanted never to let NI leave the Customs Union.

This is not a factual statement.

This came after a telephone conversation between the PM and the German Chancellor, in which she said that there was virtually no chance of a "deal". Apart from the one already negotiated, of course.

This caused Vote Leave to post a sickening meme in which it said that the UK did not win two world wars to now be dictated to by Germany. And had a photo of the German Chancellor in what looked like a Nazi salute.

NI staying in the CU is a direct result of Brexit and the lack of forethought by Brexiteers. How the only land border between the UK and EU functions is a pretty fundamental issue and should have been top of their list of risks. That it wasn't, and it took the best part of three years for its importance to filter through the thich skulls of leading Brexiteers tells you everything you need to know about them.

They are as thick as fuck.

Thing about Brexit is, that it is primarily at legal process. But The Governments of May and Johnson have treated it as a political process. And mainly a domestic legal process at that. Not understanding, or caring, about the legal restrictions on Brexit, borders, trade and all the other things mean no adequate preparations were done when the matters were just important, not now when they become critical.

The latest cunning plan is "Team Johnson" have been reading constitution law (for dummies) and found something called the Lascelles Principle, which set out when Parliament could be dissolved.

But that principle has been superseded by the Foxed Term Parliament Act, so even before we think about whether it would apply to Johnson, it is no longer relevant.

Johnson can be removed as PM by either the Monarch or by Parliament. And there is nothing he can do about it. He could squat in 10 Downing Street, wouldn't make him still be PM though.

These are idiots, lead by idiots, cheered on by idiots in the press.

God help us all.
