Saturday 4th July 2020

Independence Day (US of A).

Here it was a normal Saturday, a Saturday when pub and hairdressers among other establishments could reopen.

We decided not to risk a visit to either a pub or to get our hair cut.

There will be other weeks, other Saturdays.

We were going to go onto the Romney marsh for some churchcrawling, but the weather forecast was so grim, and the cloud so thick, that there was little point. And I found out today the CCT churches don't open until Monday anyway.

One hundred and eighty six So we had the whole day and the whole house in which to entertain ourselves, but with little idea what to do.

I woke up with my shoulder really sore, so I could not get on the cross trainer, it would have been a rest day anyway.

We have fruit for 1st breakfast, and then, an hour later, coffee and croissants. We know how to live!

There is the radio to listen to, stuff on the computer to get on with, the morning slips by.

I make a batch of dough for a focaccia load, which once it has risen, I fill with cheese and onion, and had thoughtfully added bacon to the dough, so it was very flavoursome indeed.

Cheese and onion stuffed focaccia And there was the "joy" of following Norwich v Brighton on Twitter. I had low expectations, but it was another low point for the season, one shot, no goal, and a scrappy winner from a corner for Brighton. We now have to win four of our remaining five games to equal our worst ever showing in the PL.

Grim days indeed.

So to cheer myself up, I listen to more football, and our "nearest" rivals pick up points making our situation even more precarious.

So we have the bread with caprese and some red wine, and all very good it was too.

The rain had stopped and the clouds cleared, but the wind blew a hoolie all afternoon, so we closed the curtains and watched Gardner's World.

For the evening's main event, we play Uckers whilst drinking beer and munching on roast cork kernels. Its amazing how easy they are to eat!

Two hundred and twenty two Jools wins by two pieces.

Keith Haring retrospective, Tate Liverpool, Liverpool Bah.

For the rest of the evening, we watch a new documentary on Keith Haring, the artist we went to see an exhibition of in Liverpool last year. It made his work seem all the more remarkable, and was able to notice how even his video work had been copied over the years. He stayed true to the causes he believed in, and his chariatble trust still makes large donations to charities and other good causes.
