Saturday 2nd February 2019

Good morning.

Welcome to the weekend.

Eight days have now passed since learned what happened to Meg. I can't say it gets any easier. Sometimes you find yourself taking and tears overwhelm you. The truth of us is so big, there is no understanding it.

Thirty three It was a fine day ahead, apart from shopping, we had little to do, so, why not some churchcrawling?

Jools is going on a diet on Monday, so this means that what we buy as well as eat is going to change. So, we have to decide what we are going to eat this weekend as this seems very much a turning point as we try to change ourselves.

Snowdrops So, we decide on carbonara on Saturday, and pie on Sunday. So, the shopping list included things for those. I will do my best, but travelling with work meakes the easiest, least healthy choices are the easiest. I can only do my best.

Back home, we put the shopping away, warm croissants for breakfast before loading the car with all my photographic equipment. The plan was to go to near to the north Kent coast to visit a couple of villages, to churches I haven't been to in six year.

Holy Cross, Hoath, Kent The BBC said it was going to be a dull grey day, but as we headed over the marshes, crossing the old Wantsum Channel, clouds thinned and parted and the sun shone weakly through. It made my heart sing, I just wanted the churches to be open. Sadly one wasn't, but Hoath a few miles away was. There was a sign advertising "messy church" later that morning, meaning that it would be open for preparation.

Holy Cross, Hoath, Kent Which was the case.

The church wasn't spectacular, but has its moments. And it is always joyous to visit a church, to see details you missed on previous visits, or to have a warden show, proudly, his church, to show what makes his heart sing about the building.

I take a few dozen shots, And having taken my shots, I leave a donation and bid them farewell.

Holy Cross, Hoath, Kent Back to the car, we drive back to Preston to call in at the butcher to get some chicken breasts and sausages.

Then back home.

It was an odd afternoon, in that City were to kick off at half five, so I half listened the early games, but focus was all on the team news for the game later, as Norwich were playing the only team above them in the table, Leeds. The game was taking place at Leeds, and was live on TV. would have taken a draw at the start.

Holy Cross, Hoath, Kent With a roar the game kicked off, and City were soon in the lead through a free kick, and just before half time Pukki scored a second. When in the 2nd half we scored a third, and although not outplaying, but out thinking Leeds.

Holy Cross, Hoath, Kent Leeds got a last minute goal, but City ran out 3-1 winners, and went above Leeds to be on top of the league.

And not wishing to labour a point, having played the three teams closest to us, and ending up on top of the league, with a home game against local rivals Ipswich, who bottom of the table are 39 points behind.

Wow.

Jools was going Betty-sitting, so I was home alone, spending the evening listening to the game and then basking in the afterglow, before watching the highlights on Quest.

The watching MOTD live, before Jools arrived back home at half eleven.

Quite a day, all in all.
