This piece of legislation needs to be passed in the event the WA is accepted by Parliament. This provides the ratification in UK law that is a requirement of the the Withdrawal Act, s13.
In other words, not only does the WA have to be accepted.
But The European Union (Withdrawal Agreement Implementation) Bill has to be passed too.
All before 29th March.
Next month.
If both the WA and The European Union (Withdrawal Agreement Implementation) Bill are not ratified, then the UK would leave the EU with no deal, which is the default position. Of course.
But The European Union (Withdrawal Agreement Implementation) Bill has not been published even in draft form.
It needs to be pass through The Commons,
The Lords,
Back to the Commons, before receiving Royal Assent.
Even if there was nothing to be discussed, debated or amended, that is a tight timescale, but a piece of high level legislation that changes rights of all of us, and EU citizens needs many weeks of debate. Unless the Government aims to railroad it through at the last minute.
Not a good look.
And the unconfirmed big news of the day is that Nissan is scrapping plans to built the electric variant of their X Trail in Sunderland, the plan that was the first post referendum piece of good news for Brexiteers.
How will they spin this news, if confirmed? By blaming remainers I suppose.
