Thursday Brexit

Either a statement is binding or not. You cannot make something that is biding, more binding. In the same way you cannot make an act that is already illegal more illegal.

So, the effect of firming up language in a framework statement has absolutely no point or purpose in law, domestic or international. In order make the backstop non-binding, or the alternatives binding, is to change the text of the WA.

Anything else is just pointless and wasting paper and ink.

In simple terms, the WA will have to have the backstop, there might be great will on both sides that it never be used, but in the end, its there.

And as predicted, the DUP said today they would not even support a time limited backstop. This, despite nearly 14 months ago agreeing the draft text which said nothing different than the WA says now, and included the backstop.

So, best stop the bullshit and call out the liars now and say there are no more delays and threats.

In other news, Corbyn says he will back the PM is Brexit is softened. This will break the party, and finally lays to rest the long lie that he has been playing some long game. He is and always has been a Brexiteer, and will force his remaining leaning party into supporting Brexit.

It will fatally damage his party just as much as Brexit will do that to the Tories.

As I have said before, I can’t see either party surviving this. Already membership of Labour has dropped 20%, but is still at something just under half a million. But this will dash the hopes of many that Corbyn would turn and support remain or a second referendum.

All I can say is that I told you so.
