The week ahead

Each week that goes by now ramps up the ante in regards to Brexit. As we now have 39 days until Brexit day, the madness will get ever madder as Brexiteers try to square reality with what they promised two and a half years ago, or do what they normally do, is say something along the lines of "no ever said it was going to be easy", and yet they all did. The easiest deal in history.

The failure of FlyBMI yesterday gives Brexiteers the opportunity to show how much more they know more about running an airline than the people who actually do run an airline. They also know more about supply chains to car factories and Airbus.

Maybe they should quit politics and go into business supplying the country in bitter tears of disappointment.

Quite where the country, and the Westminster bubble will be in a week's time, or a month's time, is anyone's guess.

The Express lead today with news the EU are preparing food parcels to send to the UK in the event of no deal. How dare the EU feed our poor and hungry!

Just about sums the country up.

And May has written to each and every Conservative MP asking them to put aside their personal views and back the WA.

Thing is, even if she does get the WA through Parliament, the bigger battle as to what the relationship between the UK and EU will be post 2020, and that would have to be concluded in something like 15 months to then allow for ratification, lest another cliff edge will happen.

If the WA is this difficult, if not near impossible to gather enough support, then the trade deal will be worse, much worse.

And Trump is saying the US is ready to do a trade deal with the UK. Of course, any old fool can sign a trade deal, but you need good negotiators and a position of leverage to get anything like the deal the EU currently has.
