"World beating"

News came this week that the much triumphed "world beating" track and trace app currently being tested on the Isle of Wight would not be ready until the winter.

Worse than that, as today it was scrapped.

The UK is to adapt the Apple/Android one it should have adopted in March.

Three months wasted, millions of pounds wasted, and until hundreds, if not thousands more dead. All to try to prove the UK was a "world force", instead showed it to be second division at best.

On top of this, the UK's independent satellite navigation system, started up as the UK wouldn't pay into something by the EU is also under review.

I believe in my country, when we do things, we can do it brilliantly, but setting up a global sat nav system from scratch was always bonkers proper mad idea, and something beyond any sngle country's ability, other than a true global superpower's.

Same is true for setting up a rival to Airbus to utilise the wing and engine plants to be rendered obsolete when exporting parts becomes so expensive to the EU assembly plants. It is possible to do, but requires massive investment for a pay off that might be two decades away, if it is a good product.

Managing policy isn't easy, and clearly beyond the dregs of the Conservative Party that make up the current Government.

Imagine how well Brexit is going to go come January 1st?
