Inertia creeps

So, for the whole of the summer we have had no functioning Government as the Conservatives chose between to almost dentical candidates, who tried to outdo each other in promising to be even more cruel.

The Government and Westminster went on holiday.

Sewage was pumped into rivers and the sea.

The cost of living crisis got more urgent and deeper.

There is war in Europe.

THe pound continues to slip against both the Euro and the Dollar, the latter means that energy gets ever more expensive.

And with Parliament not sitting, there was no urgent questions, no scrutiny. No Ministerial statements.

And last Monday Liz Truss was elected.

Confirmed on Tuesday as PM.

First PMQs on Wednesday in which she did OK.

Then on Thursday, the Queen died and "normal" business in Westminster was suspended for at least 12 days.

Just about every department has new Ministers, who for the most part have no skills relating to their briefs.

What could go wrong.

Just about everything.

Meanwhile the country drifts into multiple crisis.
