The vandals are in power

The Queen is dead, mourned and now buried, and so at 08:00 this morning (Tuesday) mourning for the former Monarch ended.

Coming after that and the six weeks of leadership campaign for the leadership of the Conservative Party, new PM Liz Truss meets with the US President today, and before that meeting has admitted that a trade deal between our two countries is not going to happen. And Biden himself has pointed out, its not that the UK should have chosen one over the other, but maintained both.

Trying to find some positive vibes from another Brexiteer “promise” is that reality is creeping into the UK’s decision to leave the EU, but what Truss and her Government does now is unclear.

As the pound plunged to it’s lowest levels against the US Dollar for 35 years on Friday, a trade war with the EU would only make that worth. And the weapons that Truss is choosing to fight these crisis is the same that George Osborne failed with between 2010 and 2016. Tax cuts alone cannot create growth and/or wealth.

And as 33% of UK companies have stopped trading with the EU totally, opportunities for growth coming from this is remote.

We, as a country, have had two months with little or no Government, we have drifted into deeper crisis on many fronts, so wake up this morning with the Mother of political headaches, as Truss and her Government will continue the six year battle to balance the demands of her Brexiteer factions within her party and the press and reality.

Reality will win in the end, of course, it’s a case of how much damage can be done in the meantime, and who will they blame for their failure.

It is now a race against time to see what else can be destroyed before their game is up. Spending more money on the wealthy and their pet projects, and gutting the very institutions that keep the Government and Country functioning.
