What they really mean is that it has been wet, and for the last week or so, unseasonably chilly.
All that being true, most plants are several weeks, even a month or so, ahead of where they should be. There were few frosts over winter, no snows, and so although mild, it was perfect for snails and slugs, which explains how lilies and other plants in our garden, and flowers, shrubs, hedges and trees throughout the south east have been munched on by said slugs and snails. Our lilies and Crown Imperials, usually munch on by Lily Beetles, well the beetles didn't get a chance as the slugs were there first.
Saturday was to be cool, very windy and with showers. So, nothing much planned.
We went to Tesco first thing where we spent less than normal, although I did notice these Irish crisps are now on sale here, so six packs did fall into our trolley.

John has, despite him saying how much he enjoys buses, now his eyes are better, has bought himself a new car.
Anyway, we played cards and John won. Money going to money and all that, before Jools warmed up lasagne for supper, so that I could leave so to see the second and third games of the day.
Back home at five, kettle on and make brews to watch Spain rattle three past Croatia in the "group of death".
