Dick out

Dame Cressida Dick resigned yesterday evening, less than ten hours after stating that she would not be standing down.

The final straw came when the Mayor of London said he no longer had confidence in her.

Dick has a long history of controversy, dating back tot he 1980s when we was involved in the Daniel Morgan case. That is key in understanding the link between some parts of the press and the Metroplitan Police.

She was also in the operations officer when innocent Jean Charles de Menezes was chased onto a train and seven bullets fired into the back of his head.

Recently, she refused to investigate the parties in Downing Street because the Met stated, they don't investigate crimes that took place in the past.

No, makes no sense to me either.

The overreaction to the "reclaim the streets" protest last year when young women were handcuffed at a vigil for a woman who had been killed by a serving policeman, nicknamed by his colleagues as "rapist" should have seen her go.

But Johnson overruled the Home Secretary in extending her tem in charge.

Oddly, it is the Government, and JOhnson who will appoint the new Commissioner, the pwerson who will oversee investigations into the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, and decide on what, if any, punishments to give.

Still a mess, and conflicts of interest everywhere.

A senior Minister this morning suggests the Police shouldn't charge the PM even if found to have broken the law, suggesting the POlice should not decide on who the PM is, thereby also suggesting the PM should be above the law.

Also that the "unique" position that the PM had in that his home was also his office.

Millions of others were also in that situation, and almost all held no parties because we were told it wasn't allowed and we care enough not to do it.
