Useful idiots

One of the greatest tricks the right ever pulled was getting the poor to support policies that keep them poor.

You can look at free healthcare in the US or Brexit here. Those who will suffer most were recruited to support it with the promise of the threat of socialism of some kind of free trade utopia that would leave money for everyone and everything.

I write this because Sylv yesterday announced she likes and supports Boris Johnson.

This created quite a reaction form Jen, Jools and myself, but she stood by her beliefs that Johnson had done a great job under the difficult conditions he had to endure. Even when pointed out JOhnson himself created thos bad conditions with poor or delayed policy decisions, she was having none of it.

I have no idea which paper this lifelong Labour voter reads, but I suspect its the Mail of Express, maybe even the Sun, but the truth is their blind propaganda in supporting Johnson, rubbishing Corbyn at the last election cut through.

I had my own views for not supporting Corbyn, but even I worked out Corbyn would be better than Johnson. Not everyone saw it that way, Slyv didn't.

He talked to the IRA she said.

Sylv, they all talked to the IRA, its how peace came about.

But she was having none of it.

The only thing that would make her stop supporting Johnson or the modern Conservatives is if he/they took away her free bus pass.

She is just one person, but if many others think this way, then as a nation we really are screwed.

My last statement to her was: "if after 74 years on this planet you still haven't learned that the Tories don't give a fuck about the poor and have your interests at heart, then there really is no hope."
