Hot rats

When the UK Government resembles the last days of Enron, you know things are bad.

And yesterday was quite remarkable.

First of all, interest rates are to rise, not by much, to 0.5%, but still the curve is upwards.

Then, energy proces are to increase in April by 54%, as the Government removes the price cap. This is a political decision, and one that, in theory, Brexit should have made easier, as least with Brexiteer's spin. Indeed, in France the price increase was capped at 6%.

So for many, energy will rise £20 a week, on top of inflation expected to peak the same month at 7.5%, it will be the biggest drop in UK standard of living on record. THe Government's only hope is that energy prces will drop on the Eropean wholesale market allowing domestic proces to drop.

But delving into data, it has emerged that the amount of gas exported from the UK by companies like Shell doubled when compared to the previous four years, piped to Holland, while for more expensive LPG gas is imported from the Middle East and US to top up UK supplies, adding to our costs, but allowing Shell to make £120.00 a second in profit.

Meanwhile the poor will freeze and starve.

The Governor of the Bank of England has asked UK workers not to ask for big pay rises.

Keep prices down, then.

Meanwhile in Downing Street, Johnson four most senior advisors all quit on the same day withon hours of each other. Initially spun as Johnson clearing the deck in the wake of Partygate, but soon leaks of MPs whatsapp group circulating positive tweets and messages they could put out. The whatsapp screenshot was leaked before the tweets were sent.

Munira Mirza has worked with Johnson since 2008, she resigned with one heck of a resignation letter:

"This was not the usual cut and thrust of politics; it was an inappropriate and partisan reference to a horrendous case of child sex abuse.

She added: "You tried to clarify your position today [Thursday] but, despite my urging, you did not apologise for the misleading impression you gave."

"It's not too late for you, but it's too late for me"

THere was on one lesft in Downing Street to spin the stories, as all the spinners had resigned.

It remnds me of the last scenes of Zeffirelli's McBeth, when the King runs round deciding who to make Thane of Cawdor, finally dropping the insignia on some lowly lickspittle.

There is almost no one left now of the Vote Leave cabal in Downing Street, just Johnson, Carrie and wallpaper at £800 a roll paid for by some weathy doner who Johnson will gift some lucrative contract or peerage.

When will it end?

Today, tomorrow, Monday? Seems just a matter of time.

Meanwhile the country is in chaos, we are all getting poorer, our rights are to be stripped and whoever follows Johnson will have even more power.

Update:

At 07:45, a 5th member of the team of SPADs resigned.

Not many rats left on board now. Meanwhile, Johnson and Carrie rearrange the deckchairs.
