The year ahead

Now comes the time to share with you our plans for the new year.

Mostly travel.

First up, and just over four weeks away is a week in Iceland.

Volcanoes notwithstanding.

Already our plans have had to change twice as the current erruption ebbs and flows. For the time being, aircraft can still land at the nearby airport, so we are hopeful.

We had a time in a hotel in the middle of nowhere, next to the Blue Lagoon. That was fine until the lasted activity got more extreme, now both the Blue Lagoon and the Northern Lights Hotel are both closed.

It will be an adventure.

In April, Jools is going on a famly holiday to a woodland lodge. After thinking it would be the New Forest or Sherwood, it now seems to be The Forest of Dean.

All of these trips are unbooked and so unconfirmed, apart from Iceland, which is booked and paid for, though the volcano might decide otherwise.

In May we hope to be going to Ireland for a week, as part of an orchid trip arranged by a friend, though nothing confirmed as yet.

And finally, we hope to do a road tip to France in September, but this is an ambitious program, maybe more than our salaries can support.

We shall see.

This is to be my last full year working.

Which is nice.
