Sunday

I am hoping, that come December 31st, I could stop writing out the shitshow that is Brexit. But of course Brexit isn't just for Christmas, its forever, and there will be talks, summits and negotiations about our relationship with the EU until we rejoin.

There have been times when keeping track of the clusterfuck has not been good for my mental health, but at other times it has given me a feeling of smugness in knowing more than Ministers and BBC reporters and editors.

Which is not the way things should be.

Brexit will not end on January 1st, just move into a new phase, talks about the deal that we failed to complete in 2020 or something else. And it will go on and on.

Even confronted with his own lies by a BBC local reporter who showed him a video of him saying that his over ready deal would get Brexit done, no ifs, not buts, he refused to accept it.

We should not be surprised.

Nor should we be surprised at the hate spewed out by the Hate Mail on Sunday against the EU and the German Chancellor in particular. It is shameful, and why can't they simply report that the EU and its leaders are simply trying to get the UK to comply with what we have thus agreed to?

The EU's offer is pretty much non-negotiable, the UK will have to cave in and accept it, just a case of whether that can be dressed up to look like a Johnson victory, or done in the new year.

Johnson is calling Van der Leyen now, apparently. Will we see the white smoke of an agreement or the black smoke of burning books?
