Political geometry

How many u turns does it take before it transfigures into something else?

This week, the new Chancellor has been saying that the "triple lock" on pensions wasn't guaranteed, and that would be revealled at the end of October when there is to be another moni-budget, but then at PMQs today, Truss announced that the triple lock was safe after all.

Ministers like James Not-so-Cleverly, had been sent out this morning to rule out such a lock on pensions this year, only for Truss to turn again three hours later.

It was revealled this morning that enough letters of no cofidence had been received to, in normal circumstances, trigger a full vote. But rules state that such votes don't happen in the PM's first year.

Later it was suggested if 50% of Conservatve MPs send in a letter then there would be no need for a vate and she would be removed.

Later still, it was further leaked that if Graham Brady receives letters from one third of MPs, then a vote will be triggered.

Meanwhile one of her top advisors has been suspended, accused of leaking against other Conservative MPs, namely calling the Chancellor before last, Me Javid, "an idiot".https://www.british-history.ac.uk/survey-kent/vol8/pp231-253 At PMQs Truss announced she was a fighter not a quitter.

And then an hour later pulled out of a ten minute Q&A session with journalists.

In the Commons, the Deputy Chair of the 1922 Committee revealed that the prospect of the upcomming vote to allow fracking, going against the last Party manifesto being a confidence matter and he would lose the whip he he voted agaonst, said he would vote with the Government, under duress, but had submitted a letter of no confodence in Truss.

The Deputy Chair of the 1922 Committee admitting, in the COmmons, that he has no confidence in the PM. Rumours are of a vote. But we shall see.
