Another anniversary

Time passes over us like waves on a beach. Sometimes we are taken up short by the fact the moon is nearly full again, or the sun rises in the east rather than the south east.

On longer timescales, thanks to this blog, I am able to turn back the clock now over a decade, and see where we were. And this week, on the 10th, saw the 10th anniversary of moving into this house, the ugly house on the cliffs. Although, its not on the cliffs, not yet, maybe in a few tens of thousands of years, the cliffs between here and the current coast line will crumble. By then, we will be long gone.

We found out yesterday we have seven years and one month before the house will be paid off. Maybe sooner than that if we can do it. And then we might retire, or go part time.

These are the choices we have in front of us, we hope. And to have those we have had tough times, none worse than when I lost the job with UTEC in 2009, also nearly a decade ago, coming within weeks of getting the keys to this place, frightening times, thinking you might lose your dream house so soon after moving in.

Then there was the repairs we had to do, that also nearly broke us too, and meant increasing the mortgage.

But we coped, and are still here. Now we have the garden we wanted, the house repaired, watertight and cosy.

Home sweet home
