Weekend Brexit

In which Brexiteers and the Brexit supporting papers are indignant with rage after it emerged that members of the EU27 might want to revisit issues of their own if the WA is reopened. Using the term "British colony" to describe Gibraltar might have been a mistake, but the fact Spain would want its status reviewed if it could is plain to anyone. Apart from Brexiteers of course.

Gibraltar was allowed to vote in the referendum, and voted 96% to remain, as they understood what might happen if the UK were to leave the EU, but seems Brexiteers didn't, or didn't care. Like they don't care about Ireland either really, just pretend to.

Each tick of the clock now rings louder as the days, hours and minutes run out, talk is of the half term recess being cancelled, but MPs apparently like their skiing holidays and might veto that, almost as though their apres ski is more important than the country's economy.

I spoke with a taxi driver about Brexit yesterday, and told hm that Brexit hasn't really started yet, this is just the overture, after March 29th, then the trade talks begin, and as once again the UK doesn't know what it wants, or can't agree with itself what it wants, it will also be a disaster. But for there to be trade talks, there has to be a WA. And for there to be a WA there has to be agreement on the Irish border.

Same as it always has been. One day the Brexiteers will understand all this.
