Monday Brexit

A quick reminder of where we are really.

First of all, Labour and Parliament can try to rule out a no deal Brexit, and indeed May des try too, but you have to come up with something, an alternative course of action. And one that will pass both Houses of Parliament and be acceptable to Ireland and the rest of the EU27, the EU Council, be within EU and WTO rules too.

That is a though ask in something like six and a half weeks

May has been saying since December she is trying to renegotiate the WA that she and her Government had spent 18 months negotiation and had signed off on it. The time has now come when Parliament has to decide that time has run out for May, and they have to take charge.

They failed to do that three weeks ago, and might do tomorrow, but there really is no time beyond tomorrow.

It is thought that May is just kicking the can down the road to run down the A50 process to be able to force through something at the last minute. It is also possible she is just a rabbit in the headlights, frozen by fear and indecision.

She has had 20 months to deliver a Brexit, and that time must now have run out.

But again, there must be something else other than no deal, and if the Commons reject May's WA a second time, then there is only one choice left, the revoke A50 and stop Brexit.

Otherwise, Brexit will happen in 46 days, ready or not, by simple operation of international law when the articles of the EU will no longer apply to the UK.

We will be out of the EU and without a clue.

Although the UK signed a framework agreement with Switzerland, but becasue its landlocked, freight will mostly have to travel through the EU and be subject to their rules and standards.

The EU has ruled out a 2nd referendum, and with there being, currently, no political will in either of the two main political parties, also ruled out revocation of A50, but as time runs further out, that will be the only choice. Maybe.

Yes, the Brexit blogs are coming thick and fast as the news cycle gets ever quicker and "cunning plans" are dreamed up and dashed on an hour by hour basis.
