Wednesday Brexit

Today, the EU President, Donald Tusk, asked the question as to what the special place in hell for those who pushed Brexit without a plan looked like. This is pointing to people like Gove, DD, Failing Grayling and so on, not the people who voted for it based on their lies, but of course, his comments won’t be accurately reported.

So, no real change there.

Tusk also had harsh words for those pushing for a 2nd referendum, that what with there being just 50 days to Brexit and the leader of the two main parties are clearly against the idea and are very keen on Brexit, it is time to face facts.

Tomorrow, May goes to Brussels to try to get the EU to reopen the WA, with what is called the mandate of The House. To get the backstop removed from the WA. The backstop is there when alternative arrangements fail. The Brooke Amendment has, in all seriousness suggested that the in case of the alternative arrangements failing, instead of the backstop, alternative arrangements would kick in. Yes, alternative arrangements to be replaced by alternative arrangements in case the alternative arrangements fail.

That is the plan. The whole of the plan.

This is like the PM being sent to heaven to try to get the law of gravity repealed. The past three years have made it clear to the EU that the UK needs to be pinned down legally, otherwise it will try to get out of commitments.

And the ERG and DUP have always wanted the UK out of the EU, and are more than happy with no deal, so string the PM long enough before changing their mind and forcing the no deal through as time would have run out. The people really do not care about the country, or more importantly, the people who live in it, the normal working people who are just getting by.

Had the DUP and ERG been faced down with reality and their lies called out before now, not that they have even now, then maybe we could have had a sensible discussion about when the fuck the country was going. As it is, the default position is that as a matter of international law, the UK will leave the EU next month, on the 29th March when the articles of the EU will no longer apply to that.

Whatever happens domestically is irrelevant unless there is an actual majority for something other than no deal, and a legally binding majority at that.

That fucking cliff edge is pretty fucking close now you fucking fuckers.
