Leaks

Yesterday, a communication between the UK Ambassador to the USA and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office was leaked to one of the Sunday newspapers.

Leaks are part and parcel of political life, but not normally when the person being leaked against is a civil servant, rather than a Minister.

The Ambassador is under pressure from the usual suspects of Brexiteers; including Farrage and the US President himself, as the leak in question listed that Trump's administration was not acting normally.

This is not a surprising evaluation. Had he not have come to such a conclusion would have been surprising.

Ambassadors regularly send such communications back to head office, and some of the ones covered under the 30 year rule were read out on a Radio 4 program a couple of years ago.

What is interesting here is that Brexiteers are briefing against a representative of the UK and in favour of the leader of a foreign power, even if that is the USA.

I am not one to bandy about accusations of traitorous activity, but this is an interesting way for Brexiteers to behave, unless it is in order to get someone more Brexity to take the post.

Would that be in their interest or in the interest of the UK?
