Suspension of belief

Yesterday it emerged that there is a plan to start a new session of Parliament at the beginning of November. This would mean that Parliament would not sit for approx 10 day before hand, a kind of suspension-lite.

This would allow the final few days of the extended A50 notice period to pass without challenge from MPs of Peers.

Make no mistake, that if this happens, this would be a major blow to democracy, and also if confirmed, the chance of Johnson becoming PM in having the confidence of the House, a more remote possibility.

In the EU, they voted for a new President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen won with a margin of 9 votes, or 52 to 48%. That the Brexit Party called this undemocratic. My ironymeter exploded.

Although she has already said she would welcome either an extension to A50 or the UK staying in the EU, something the Daily Express got very upset about this morning.

Whatevs, bruv.

Supporters of Johnson's tax cuts plan have said that reducing income tax will actually increase revenues. Take this to its (il)logical conclusion, reducing income tax to zero will increase revenues to an infinite amount.

More unicorn thinking....
