I don't know whether you think I am being hard on the PM when I blame him for things, like the decisions he has made, or the time taken to make them, but as no one really comments on these or the Brexit blogs, I don't know.
But, news came yestrday of the rapid rise in in infection rates of B.1.617.1 and there appears to be no acceptance from the Government that allowing people from India to continue into the UK, two weeks after people from Pakistan and Bangladesh were added to the red, no fly, list. And when the decision was finally made to add India, four days notice was gven to allow an extra influx to happen.
Now it is embedded in some communities, like Oldham, where on street testing is now taking place to identify those carrying it.
All avoidable, of course.
But Johnson and his Government chose not to close the broders, to keep the UK safe from this variant.
So, all further restrictions, the reopening of the economy which will be put back, can and should be laid at the door of Downing Street for the decisions made.
It shouldn't need saying that those in Government pushed for Brexit to take control of our borders, and once they had a fucking good reason to do so, they didn't.
