May to address the nation

Tonight, the PM is to address the nation from in front of Number 10. Cabinet has been summoned, at least the Brexity half has, and rumour that other party leaders have been called for too.

She submitted a request for extension until the end of June, and the EU are going to consider it, but not tonight, not tomorrow.

They might instead offer May a delay until the end of May (ahem) or one of nine months or more, if she can suggest a good reason.

Thus far she has blamed the speaker, Parliament, the electorate for a failure to ratify her WA, but never accepted blame herself.

And the extension would be dependable on The Commons approving the WA, if such a vote is allowed.

May might resign tonight, she said in PMQs today she could not preside over an extended extension.

Parliament could take control, if it showed some backbone.

Or we might just crash out next Friday night.

Who knows.
