Brexit plus 3,628,800 seconds

Over three and a half million seconds have passed since the UK was supposed to have left the EU.

In the six week since, there has been a near three week Easter recess, and a three May Day weekend.

On some days, The Commons has risen at just gone four in the afternoon with no further business to debate. One would think that things are normal.

Of course, they are far from normal.

The PM is saying she will stay until she has delivered the first part of Brexit, though no one really know what that is or when that might be.

There has been no new attempt to get the MV though, nor any publication of the actual The Withdrawal Agreement Implementation Bill, which is the legal mechanism for the ratification of the WA, the part that will trigger leaving and enable UK law to be changed, and has to be passed to be in compliance with the UK constitution.

The Conservative Party are putting up MEPs in the election in 13 days, though there is no manifesto, nor any actual direction on Brexit other than stating it doesn't really matter as UK MEPs won't take their place in the European Parliament, as the WA will be ratified before then.

Unless the The Withdrawal Agreement Implementation Bill is passed, there will be no Brexit. Or, under UK law there will be.

As long as the EU elections take place, and UK MEPs take their place in the EU Parliament, the Brexit day is delayed until the end of October. If for some reason, the EU elections don't take place, then the EU would expel the UK on June 1st.

3 weeks away.

Close again.
