The long Parliament

Today a record was broken, that this current Parliament, is the longest since the English Civil War.

Today is the 300th day on which it has sat, though it has long since run out of any meaningful business to debate. Yesterday, the House rose after three hours and 34 minutes the session began.

And then they all went home.

Brexit is still there, but there is gridlock.

Today, the Conservative Party said it planned for the The Withdrawal Agreement Implementation Bill to receive Royal Ascent. For this to happen the white paper will have to be actually published. Then debated. In both Houses. Voted on. In both Houses. Then it can receive royal ascent.

At the moment, the Government is trying to get the essence of the Bill passed, the meaningful vote (MV), this has already suffered two of the three biigest defeats of any Government Policy in modern history. This is just the MV, where fudging and blurred lines can get troublesome clauses to be passed by the Right Honourable members going into the correct lobby. The Bill will have legal clarity. No fudging, no blurred lines.

If May has trouble getting MV through, then the Bill stands no chance.

And even if it did, the next Tory PM will just try to unpick it. Not that the EU don't realise this.

Which is why cross-party agreement is needed, to show there is a large political will for the WA and the UK will keep its word.

As it was said on Newsnight last night, changing the PM and keeping on with Brexit would be like changing a driver in the middle of a car crash. Te car crash will still happen.

In the event of an election, a General Election, The Conservative Party is already talking about running on a Brexit platform, and doing a deal with Nigel. Nigel has not won an election to UK Parliament yet, he might in an election, but this is a party without policies, members and is a private company. So, not anything traditional at all.

Nigel hates being reminded what he said in the past, but unless we do, and shine a light on his past lies, we can highlight how foolish it would be to swallow is newer lies today.

And if he refuses to answer questions on his past statements and records, he should not be allowed back on that show, or on that TV channel.
