The message isn't clear

The message coming from the top of both the main parties is that the public has spoken, and the public has apparently said that it wants Brexit sooner and harder.

If find this an odd take, and a take being repeated by the BBC in their hourly reports. I mean, a massive swing to the two parties pushing remain seem to suggest maybe, at least, a second look at the nation's options.

I mean, the Tories had their arses whipped, and yet they carry on as though the local elections were a massive vote of confidence, rather than their worse showing for 24 years.

In nearby Thanet, the home of Brexit: it went from having 33 UKIP counsellors to having none. Nil. Zero. Zilch.

Meanwhile the EU looks on, now preparing for the probability that the UK will request a further extension in October to the A50. This is not a given, and I think it is something the UK will not get, were it to be requested, I think France would veto it, meaning the UK would have to chose between no deal or no Brexit.

Thing is, people act as though Brexit is a given, but I really am struggling to see how any kind of Brexit can be passed, as Parliament has three times rejected the WA, which the EU said it will not reopen, or no deal which is the one path that MPs of all colours agree is insane.

So, what else? Either a referendum or an election.

Neither is certain, or certain to resolve the problem of the country as a whole, not knowing what the fuck it does want, not just what it doesn't want.

This cannot go on forever, but then again, it just might.
