The change from our blessed Leader, St Jezza of Corbyn from Brexiteer to Remainiac has no been completed, but some see this as another cynical ploy by the Labour leader.
Last night he sent out a letter to all LibDem, Green, SNP MPs, asking they form behind him as a temporary PM after a no confidence vote.
It is worth noting at this point, he failed to include remaining members of The Independent Group, aka the TIGgers, who resigned from the Labour Party earlier this year. Or, in other words, he is quite happy to stop no deal Brexit, but rather not do it with his opponents who walked out on him. Heck, he even wrote to moderate Conservatives, but not the TIGgers.
Some see this course of action as sensible, and the only realistic course, seeing he is the Leader of the Opposition, and after a successful Vote of no Confidence, the House would look to him to form a Government that would be acceptable first. If that were not possible, they might look to another, more unifying figure, maybe Kenneth Clark.
Other see this as cynical, as he knows he could never get the support of The House to lead such a Government, even for a short while, and so this is just a ruse to deflect the blame when no deal happens. I tried to stop it, Guv, but you didn't support me.
If the most important thing is to stop no deal, then however it is done, doesn't matter. Even if Corbyn is made PM, even in an emergency Government, the same process that got him into Number 10 could be used to remove him if he did not do what he said he would do.
Such a Government would first ask for a further extension, then either call for an 2nd referendum, or an election. A referendum would take 18 months to pass primarary and secondary legislation, then time would be needed afterwards to decide how best to act on the result.
A second referendum is inevitable if Brexit is stopped on the 31st October. Whoever is in Number 10 gets to choose what the choices in the referendum is, though would need support from Parliament to pass the required legislation.
So, interesting times ahead, and will get more interesting. You can tell how serious this is viewed by Brexiteers and the owners of the Mail and Express by the anti-Corbyn headlines on their, and other, front pages this morning.
Destruction of the country and economy is fine, but stopping Corbyn is worse.
This is where the UK is right now.
