Nice n sleazy does it

There is an apocryphal story of a Brit talking to someone from some banana republic, and the other guy says, "do you know the difference between my country and yours?"

The Brit answers "No".

"I know my country's corrup" was the answer.

This week, Westminister village is alive with political scandal, as former PM, David Cameron, was revealled to have lobbied for Greensill.

I won't go into the details, and it really doesn't matter, but DAG put it well this week when he explained, something like this.

We all have the right to eat dinner at the Ritz, but most can't afford it, so its not really a right. And so every citizen has the right to lobby and MP, Minister or Prime Mnister. But few know how to actually do it, have the phone mumber or e mail address, or the clout that the MP or Minister acts upon your lobbying.

Which is where Cameron comes in.

He lobbied the Chancellor, the Chancellor replied and got his department to change rules to the company the former PM was representing.

There is to be an inquiry, of course.

But it is clear that there was no rules, per se, in relation to this, even if Cameron said in 2010 how vital it was that former Ministers and advisors don't take their contacts and influnce into industry.

Yes, the same Cameron who now is being accused. Well, not accused, becasue there are mails and text messages, so we know he did it, there is evidence.

Just there was no rules or laws to break.

And that is the problem.
