So, there we have it, with the most important week, thus far, in Brexit, May called any threat to delay of thwart her WA as "facing catastrophe", whilst the Sunday Times lead with the hyperbolic headline "A very British Coup: Commons to sieve control from May".
Now let us be honest, May has been PM for over two years, as a Government and Country, she had lead us to where we are, nowhere nearer to knowing what Brexit is and somehow delivering something close to unity in her Cabinet, Government, Parliament or country.
In face of the most incompetent PM and Government in living memory, Parliament has to step in to take control, lest the country be driven off the cliff edge by default. But with the Sunday papers and Ministers using the word "coup" for the very thing Brexit was supposed to be about, restoring sovereignty to Parliament, this sounds to me rather than a coup by Parliament (which by definition is impossible) to a coup by the Government. A plan to cow Parliament into giving the Executive massively increased powers, either Henry VIII powers giving the PM or Minister the ability to change, revoke laws or remove rights with just a swipe of the ministerial pen.
In the face of the fact that time is running out for herself and the country, May, instead, is turning on MPs and Parliament, hoping to use fear to get them to change to her WA, rather than using the democratic method of debate and using facts. Debate means compromise, and with Brexit and in Brexit there has never been any form the flatearth headbangers.
So, the very fabric of democracy in this country is at stake, where anything other than total support for the Executive and Brexit is treasonous.
Welcome to 2019.
And all the while the clock is ticking.
