We all want good news.
I do.
But looking at today's front pages you would think we were looking at an outbreak of pink eye, not a global pandemic that has killed one hundred and ten thousand here in the UK alone, and half a million people in the US.
Dependng on which paper you read, there will be a rule of six, outdoor sports will be allowed, schools to reopen; all on 8th March.
The Daily Hate Mail hails the news, but laments how slow the reopening is, and fears for the High Street and pubs and restaurants. THis from the same paper that peddles the hate that fueled Brexit that is doing so much "good" to the UK economy.
Holidays in the UK allowed from April, and drinking in beer gardens. While the Express, at leat, supports caution.
And really, the icing on the cake is the most astinishing headline in the Torygraph: "With the end in sight, caution is JOhnson's biggest risk".
I'd have thought a third wave of vaccine resistant COVID is the BIGGEST risk.
And there is talk of not using the R rate as an unlocking metric, the Government will use others. What the ERG and editor at the Mail thinks, I suppose.
We are getting somewhere, roll out of the vaccine is going incredibly well, but Johnson is willing to risk it all on party unity over the nation's health.
I hope I'm wrong.
