The weekend.
And a day that on Saturday was going to bring dark cloud and colder temperatures, which on Sunday would turn to snow, despite East Kent expected to be among the worst part of the country, we have heard all this before and none ever came. But then again, a decade ago we were snowed in the village the forst winter we moved to St Maggies.
So, we'd probably see sunny intervals!
As the lockdown enters its, what, forth month, and most paths around the village are mud bound, and it seems unfair to drive to somewhere else to walk every week. Even if the law and guidance seems to suggest this is allowed. Police and other people might feel different.
We were going to go for a walk, that was the plan I promise you.
We got up at half seven, with it being light, or as close to daylight as it was going to get. We have coffee and ponder the day. Jen calls asking what with the weather due to turn wet and to sleet and maybe snow, should she come over at lunchtime and maybe bring fish and chips when she came?
Oh, go on then.
So, what with us having a very late breakfast of fruit, and then a second breakfast of coffee and criossants, it was pretty too late to begin doing anything.
So, we don't.
We listen to the radio, and I write and we drink more coffee.
Jen arrived just before one laden with hot deep fried food. I made drinks, butter some rolls and we sit down to eat. And I have to say that the first fish and chips we have had at home for nearly a year tasted pretty darn good.
We tidy up and play two games of Meld, of which I win the second, and Jools the first.
THen with it getting dark already at half three, and me wanting to watch the footy on the tellybox, Jen leaves. I forget to say, she had her Jab on Friday, so is now fine after feeling poorly in the hours afterwards.
Anyway, seems a bit of good news too goo not to mention.
I watch three games, pretty much back to back. First one featured Burnley, the second maybe Arsenal. Or was that the last one? No, the last one was Man Utd v Everton which ended in a 3-3 draw with Everton scoring with their last kick.
