178,250 people freshly infected in the 24 hours up to 16:00 on Friday. Up nearly 20%

2,434 people hospitalised on 3rd January, making a weekly total of 15,812, up 58% week on week.

And 229 people died up to 16:00 on Friday maeekly total of 1,120.

It is carnage.

Staff shortages caused by those infected or isolating have now reached critical levels in most of England, and the trickly of people leaving the Heath Service is increasing.

Data showing infections across age grups see infants and children being admitted to hospital rising alarmingly, and yet the GOvernment is happy sending children back to school in crowded unvetilated classrooms. Many will develop long COVID.
