The last stand

Johnson is in his last days as PM. Maybe even his last hours.

Maybe.

I mean, no one can know for certain, but his latest or last line of defence is that he was not warned the event he attended was against the lockdown laws at the time.

He was, let us not forget, Prime Minister. Had just recovered from COVID himself and it was his Government that created, wrote and published the very laws he now admits were broken in his own residence. He literally took part in daily news conferences warning the rest of us about obeying laws and guidance, social distancing, only meeting one other person.

And yet "no one told me".

This is a charade of a Prime Minister and it is time for the pantomime to end, the curtain falling for the final time on this clown of a Prime Minister.

People like myself warned of electing Johnson, but the party and country ignored us. Johnson is a "good time Charlie", great to have round when its time for the port and cheese, but in a crisis, worse than doing nothing.

Not that there is anyone better in Cabinet to replace him. Most are linked to Johnson by strong bonds and a devotion to Brexit and follow orders. Some are worse people than Johnson, but there would be focus, leadership, substance to Government.

There is still the power of the ERG to challenge and fact based decision making comes back into vogue.

He must stop now, he has already turned Great Britain into an international joke, killed nearly 200,000 more people than should have perished in the pandemic. And yet still wants to claim credit for how he and his Goverment perfomred. £14.5 billion spent on PPE, most useless or already going out of date, £37 billion on a test and trace system that still doesn't work.

For God's sake, go now, man.
