Johnson appologised yesterday in the Commons for the party that did not happen, that he did not know about, that took place in his garden, that is Principle Provate Secretary sent out invistions for, that he now says he thought was a work meeting.
After PQMs, he went to speak to MPs in the Tea Room and complained that he had in fact, done nothing wrong and was appologising for other people.
So, a less than heartfelt appology.
Since then, only 4 letters have been sent to the 1922 Committee expressing lack of confidence, that needs to be 60 before a challenge can be mounted.
Most Cabinet Ministers expressed support either in interviews or Tweets, though were more supportive than others. THe Secretaries of State for Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland did not voice their support.
In today's papers, only the Express came out in full support, others were warning of senior Monisters wanting him to resign.
He was a shell of a man in the Commons as members from other parties accused him of lying at the dispatch box, which he has, and according to the Minister's Code, he should now resign.
He refused.
The leader of the Scottish COnservative Party also called on Johnson to resign, in repsonse, JRM rather unhelpfully described said leader as a “lightweight figure”. Destroying the party to preserve Johonson as PM will not last long. Loyalty has to be earned, and Johnson has done everything opposed to that.
He is reaping a bitter harvest, and now finding the job is always wanted he is totally unsuitable to do, and hating every minute of it. We can see how he hates scrutiny, and so will avoid hostil interviews and debates. Because his is, in a word, shit.
