Party politics

In normal times, the Prime Minister and most of his Cabinet Ministers would have resigned due to scandal after scandal. Be it corruption, bullying, incompitance or just plain ignoring the rules that the rest of us live by.

Latest is "partygate", where it has emerged, that in the middle of the first lockdown in May 2020, members of the Government and Civil Service attended several events, parties, in and around Downing Street.

This was at a time when it was against the regulations to meet with someone from another household outside, and people are still being prosecuted now for offences alleged from that time.

This is the time line and excuses for the current scandal:

There were no gatherings

There were gatherings, but not parties

There were parties, but not organised

They were organised, but the PM didn't know

The PM knew, but didn't attend.....

The free and fearless press are turning again. Might only be shots across the bows, but this is serious Many people lost family, friends or loved ones at that time, were unable to meet them or other members of their family, and obeyed the rules as we were told to. Only for the very people who said that we had to obey the rules for the national good, were, in one case 55 minutes after making such a speech, going to go into the garden at Number 10 for a "bring your own booze" party where up to 100 other people had been invited.

Quite how Johnson has survived this long is beyond me. Quite how the met is not investigating this and issuing warrants for arrest is also beyond me. But it is corruption, the same social class, friends from Prep School, university, time in the press, all looking after each other.

It sucks, and we have been taken for suckers and should revolt.

Every time the story quietens down, a new leak reveals something worse, now just in time for the new session of Parliament and PMQs tomorrow. If there are further leaks it will be even worse than what we have so far seen.
