Brexit poisons everything

Two events this weekend show what damage Brexit has done to this country:

One that at the Last Night of the Proms, there were many EU flags waving, this has upset many Brexiteers as did the same thing at last year's.

I am uncomfortable with flagwaving at the best of times, but after the 2012 Olympics, I thought we had really come together as a country, celebrated our differences, and that our country was something to be really proud of.

But it must have pissed off the Brexiteers big time.

Maybe that was part of the Brexit cancer, seeing people celebrate what they clearly hate.

Waving any flag but the Union jack is an act of treason, let alone the soprano waving a gay pride flag during Land of Hope and Glory.

And then there was the RNLI.

You would think the charity that oversees the lifeboat service would be above such nastiness. But it turns out, some 2% of the RNLI's budget goes on lifesaving and swimming courses overseas.

This is not secret, as it is in the charity's annual accounts, but it did not stop the Hate Mail plastering this story yesterday, and the gammon-faced urged to chancel their subscription until the RNLI supports only a domestic agenda.

Let's be honest, they were saving the lives of brown children.

Today has seen a spike in fresh donations.

What sad times we live in, but it is what Brexit has brought upon us all.
