The Penny dropped moment

EU officials have briefed the press of the meeting between Johnson and Junker on Monday, in that until Junker explained what the Single Market was and how this affects the Irish Border and backstop.

It is reported that they EU delegates could see, literally, the penny dropping in Johnson's mind as he understood, finally, the issues.

This is really the first time that the EU have briefed, in such a negative way. And plays into our belief that Johnson is just winging it, as he always has done.

But today, the EU Parliament voted heavily in favour of keeping the backstop or something that dies the same job. So, no chance of Johnson getting it removed, not that there ever was.

And the second day of the Appeal to the Supreme Court goes on, and it could still go either way.

But the question is, if the Government can legislate against prorogation, how can it do so whilst prorogued? Apparently, in retrospect. After the event, or does so in advance, like in the recent NI laws.

All hypotheticals, but then again, Westminster rumour mill has it there will be a budget in the last week of October, with days of debate, further reducing the possibility of oversight.

So, no sitting until the 14th October, a possible second prorogation and then a budget?

It stinks. Like week out rotten trout.
