40k

My last post on COVID was called 149 because that's how many fresh infections short of 40,000 for Wednesday the UK was. As it turned out, wait 24 hours and the UK achieved the fourty thousand new infections.

As previously suggested, the daily COVID statistics don't get a mention on BBC news bulletins, they are on the webpage, but it is the news on the radio and TV that people get most of their news from.

122 people died, bringing a rolling weekly total of 755, this is carnage on a daily basis, and yet isn't mentioned.

And where COVID was mentioned, it was that most countries around the world have been removed from the "red" list, so travel to the jabbed can now happen without the need to isolate upon return. Just seven red list countries remain.

From the latter news, you might think that COVID was over, and with news that from the end of the month nighclubs and discos in Northern Ireland can open and distancing rules in other places will be removed.

This is not over.

We are going into winter, and I dread to think of what long, dark days we have ahead.

I hope I'm wrong, but there is nothing I see happening in the country that fills me with optimism.

Be careful out there.
