More lies

As well as the lies detailed in the previous post, Johnson was confronted with another of his lies by Andy Marr, when Johnson tried to claim that wages were increasing, even when it was pointed out that by the ONS figures, the one the Government should and dies use, states that inflation is increasing ahead of wages, so in real terms, most people are getting poorer, less money to spend.

Johnson denied this and tried to plough on claiming that black was white and up was down.

But all his bluster cannot and will not change reality.

Nor will it change the reality that all the trade deals in the world will not make up for the loss in trade and GDP that Brexit has caused.

GDP has shrunk 5% compared to before Brexit, and even a comprehensive trade deal with the US would, at best, increase GDP by 0.2%. So, trade deals with the US, China, Australia, New Zealand will only make a small dent in the GDP lost, and this is because it is all about economic gravity, as previously explained, a country does trade in larger volumes, and more economically with partners closer than those far away.

In a speech last night, Ms Truss listed the closer economic ties the Governent was pushing for, but there was one missing: the EU.

Without trade with the EU, we will all be poorer in Britain, and as soon as Truss, Johnson, JRM and everyone wakes up to this, the better.

But a Conservative MP, at a fringe speech last night, mooted that it might be better in the long run if supermarkets supply chains were to break for good, so that farmers could reconnect with their neightbours and sell them their produce.

I have no words as to how stupid this is.

But nothing surprises me any more.
