Roll over

Two Brexit stories this morning, both related to so-called trade deals.

1. THe trade deal with Australia seems to have hit the rocks and far from being about to be signed, apparently now won't be.

All rather embarassing.

2. The signed deal with Ukraine is going to have to be renegotiated after hundreds of references to the EU was left in the roll-over document.

I can't stress how basic this mistake is. It used to happen in operations for me, when a previous project had the same document as part of the contractor's document submission schedule, we used to get their version, change headers and footers then change the name of the project in the text. Sometimes we made a mistake and missed one, there was hell to pay.

To miss dozens, if not hundreds of clauses that made explicit reference to the EU or EU articles.

No news on the number of EU butchers or slaughtermen who want to come to the UK to work for three months. I'm guessing it's not that many, maybe a few as 27?

The majority of people in a recent YouGov survey state they have noticed shortages on supermarket shelves, and increasing numbers are now saying Brexit is going badly, with those who think its going well now below 25%.
