I'll make this simple

The UK is planning on reneging on its commitments under international law in relation to the WA and PD. This puts into jeopardy a trade deal with the EU. And the US under President-elect Joe Biden.

Neither will agree on a new deal when the UK breaks on made only a year ago.

Johnson was elected to implement the WA and PD, this was in his manifesto. The House of Lords have simply voted the clauses relating to break the law in order to keep Johnson's election promises.

In relation to Northern Ireland, all possible outcomes were covered in the NI Protocol, to suggest otherwise is a lie.

Therefore, far from protecting the GFA, the IMB threatens it on a fundamental level.

The EU is simply pressing the UK to honour the commitments under internatioanl law it made a year ago, the PM was elected to implement, and Westminster ratified in January.

This year.

Whether Johnson understood the implication of this or not, or did and was intending to break it to drive a better "deal" later matters not a jot.

As a member of the EU, the UK is under their regulatory sphere.

If the UK wants to leave that, and set up its own.

Fine.

However, that has consequences, as where the two speres meet, there has to be a border, you just have to decide where is acceptable.

Turns out none is acceptable, but you have to choose one.

Either across Ireland.

Down the Irish Sea.

Or there is no border at all.

Each has high political costs; the first damages and threatens the GFA and peace. The second splits NI from Britain, and the last upsets the headbangers in the ERG.

But Johnson has to choose one.

One.

The EU wants him to choose.

Biden wants him to choose.

Once the choice is made, plans can be made and preparations started. But there are just over six weeks left before economic brexit.

Time is slipping by, the clock is ticking.

Loudly.

Now Mr Johnson, you have to make a choice, what is it?
