The point

In my previous post, I made clear the simple choices and the situation the UK finds itself in, a simple question with three outcomes as to where the UK would like the regulatory border with the EU.

Each choice is politically poisonous, and so, I believe, Johnson does not want to make the choice, rather would be seen to be pushed into one of them, so he can blame anyone else. Hence the blame game currently being played in making the EU scapegoat in insisting that the WA be enacted as it make very clear how the NI Protocol should.

Much was made on the BBC yesterday that Biden called Johnson first of any UK leader. Although that may not be true as Leo Varadkar Tweeted then deleted the Tweet that had spoken to Biden in the afternoon. By the end of the day Biden had not only spoken to Johnson, but Macron and Angela Merkel too.

Both Johnson and Biden released press statements, and at the bottom of Biden's release was the reaffermation to the GFA. Something that Johnson's statement failed to mention. Which when it comes down to it, is the problem.

I learned at school that every deision has consequences, and so thought must be given to every choice we make. That Brexit was carried out with willfull ignorance about these consequences, and sold to the public as a no lose choice, there being no downsides only considerable upsides shows how we got to this situation.

And until the Government uder whichever leader the Conservative Party inflicts upon us is honest, we can't begin to heal and make the right choices. As in some Brexiteers mind we have moved on from sunlit uplands to no pain is too much to bear for the sake of Brexit, something they are only too willing to force onto the country, whilst at the same time insisting that we all go back to work in order to protect the economy they are willing to sacrifice to their Brexity idol.

The IMB has serious consequences, and it exists because the Government failed to accept what it signed up to in the WA and is a political way out of the mess to satisfy their party politics, but will wreck the nation's reputation.

But at some point, the choice will have to be made, and made by the UK and us alone.
