What is left?

So, the brains is leaving the building, leaving Alexander Boris de Piffel Johnson behind to take control of the destruction of the Civil Serice, Brexit, COVID and coordinating up to 80 new trade deals that "Global Britain" will need.

Not that its Golbal Britain, not Global UK? Almost if they forgot about Northern Ireland.

But I digress.

Many times over the year, either the Express or the Mail have lead with news that Jhnson was taking personal charge of this or that, or that he had made a promise that something would happen in a set period of time.

All of these failed to happen.

Everything is still shit.

The country is now pinning its hope that during the current lockdown, or in England anyways, that in this time Dido Harding will fix track and trace, and that she will also fix the capacity of CVID testing, so that come December 3rd, the system can test, track and trace, so those infected and who they come in contact with can be told to isolate, only with these working side by side can the pandemic be under enough control so that some life can return to normal and we might have a Christmas of some kind.

That Johnson, Harding and his Cabinat have had eight months to do all these things already, and failed, getting it sorted in four weeks seems a big ask. But there you go. They keep doing the same thing, over and over again. And failing.

On top of this, there is Brexit. less than four unlocked down working weeks until the relaity of a harsh economic Breit,a nd systems are not ready, customs are not ready, companies are not ready, industry is not ready, and yet Johnson ploughs on, like the Capatain of the Titanic, steering his tin tub for the sea bed as fast as gravity can carry it.

For much mitigation, it is too late to do much. The only sensible act wuld be to ask for at least an year's extension of the transition period, and hope the EU would grant it. Maybe this is what the purge of Vote Leave is about. Maybe there is a plan at last.

But when so much of what Johnson and May have done has been without a plan or a clue, why start now?

I hope to have a Brexit and COVID free weekend, with just posts about stuff we did and that.
