And its goodnight from him

Some last thoughts on David Frost.

1. In 2016, as head of the Scottish Whisky Association, Frost argued passionately regarding how good being a meber of the EU is for the industry and the country in general That he ended up as an arch Brexiteer raises the moot question as to what his real views really were/are. Not that it matter, just happens which side is paying his wages. Could I switch sides to argue against something I believed in if the paycheck was large enough? I don't think I could.

2. It would appear, from the outside, that Frost has been negotiating his own version of Brexit. At least in the last two weeks when what he though was being agreed, or what he was doing was being undermined by another part of the negotiating team. That team member briefed the EU and EU media that the UCJ was no longer a red line. This was denied by Frost, but then turned out to be the Government position after all. This seems crazy to me, having undertook negetiations I had terms of reference and a target which to reach, as well as red lines. Frost, it appears, didn't.

3. In the end, he resigned as Government policy is apparently now different from the policy he thought he was prosescuting. All in all, a proper mess.
